Made in 1958 - One Owner from New
With Brown Leatherette Carry Case,
New Ribbon and Original Instruction Book/Invoice
This machine was made in 1958 by Olympia, a German manufacturer known for making high-quality typewriters. This model was originally introduced two years earlier, and went on to spawn a whole range of Olympia lightweight portables, culminating in the 1970 Olympia Traveller which was still being produced in the mid-1980's. It really was a case of 'right first time' with the SF. It is regarded as one of the best 'flat portables' ever produced.
Featuring a 43-character keyboard with a pleasant touch, this machine also has a fold-up wire bail paper rest. A nice feature is the 'anti-clash' key which allows the typist to disentangle clashed typebars without having to get ink on their fingers! Being the very first modern small Olympia, the SF is a basic machine which takes a single-colur ribbon only.
This is a very rare instance of a one-owner typewriter. The owner was interested in foreign languages, and therefore the machine was a special order from the factory with the various accents needed. It is otherwise equipped with a normal English keyboard. The machine comes with the original bill of sale, delivery note, publicity leaflet and instruction book. The machine has been used, but not abused, and is still in fine condition - ready for many more years of reliable service. Replacement ribbons are still readily available for this model.
